Hand Tied Extensions

I have had hair extensions for years and needed to find a new stylist and move into hand tied extensions. In the ten months that I have been with Caroline, my hair looks better than ever. I have had tremendous regrowth due to her skill and expertise tying extensions along with her knowledge of the finest hair products and overall hair care. When it comes to color, foils, toning, and color blending for extensions, she is the absolute best. She truly has an artist’s eye for color and choosing the hues to best match my skin tone and overall look. Caroline is an absolute blessing. I always leave her studio feeling like my very best self!

Caroline is absolutely amazing! I’ve been going to her for about 5 months and she’s so skilled with the hand-tied extension method. The whole process is smooth and she’s very communicative with any questions you have throughout. I just love how my hair looks now..longer and more voluminous. I’d highly recommend!

Hair is personal and great hair can be a life changing experience.

Whether you’re wanting to thicken your natural hair due to postpartum hair loss or a medical condition, add just a little bit of length or go all out with 22 inches, I’ve got you!

Hand Tied Extensions are slim wefts (pieces of hair) that are sewn together by hand. Applied in a “U” shape on your head, the wefts are layered on top of each other and secured flat against your head to create a row.

At Mane Beauty Method, we offer a “hidden bead” technique as well as a traditional hand tied application. Using the highest quality hair, custom coloring of extension hair, and meticulous application it is our mission to heal your hair with extensions.

Daily Care

Section your hair row by row. While holding the tops of your wefts with your free hand, brush each extension row starting at the ends moving up to the top of your wefts twice daily. Be sure to get the top two inches (avoiding brushing over your extensions as your hand should always be holding the connection points) of the extension hair to prevent matting.

  • Use a heat protectant like HEATED DEFENSE every time your use heat to style or touch up your hair

  • Oil the mids-ends of your extension hair 1-2 times daily (morning and evening). Our favorite is YOUNG AGAIN OIL.

  • Using a silk scrunchie, loosely secure your hair in 1-2 braids, twists, or ponytails to prevent tangling/damage while sleeping. Hair must be fully dry when sleeping to prevent damage and matting to your natural hair and extension hair. It is recommended to sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase

At Home Care

Weekly Care

Wash your hair 1-3 times per week. For the easiest experience, fully brush your hair with a detangling brush (wet brush) before getting in the shower. Gently shampoo and rinse, lifting up extension rows to ensure everything is fully rinsed in between your rows. Condition your mids-ends of hair and rinse well.

  • Follow the same instructions above to brush your hair out while wet, taking extra care to hold the tops of your extensions (where they are attached) with your free hand as hair is always the most fragile when wet.

  • To protect your natural hair and prolong the life of your wefts, extension hair needs to be fully dried and should not be kept wet.

Monthly Care

Extension hair naturally runs on the dry side. It is recommended to use a mask 1-2 times a month in place of your hydrating conditioner. We love HYDRATE ME

General Maintenance

The most common way to ruin your extension wefts is by not brushing them consistently, causing them to matt, and not drying the hair, causing the wefts to break down.

Extensions On Vacation

It is not recommended to submerge your extensions in chlorine, salt or lake water. If you do plan to go in the water, coat your extensions with a conditioner and braid your hair or wear it in a high bun. After getting out of the water, wash your hair twice and condition with a hydrating conditioner or mask as soon as you can.

  • Chlorine, salt and lake water can strip extension hair of its hydration and color. This will make it much easier to tangle and the color may not blend as well with your natural hair.

  • Hard water can also cause extensions to become a warmer color than desired. It’s recommended to use a water softener or showerhead filter to prevent this.

  • Avoid sunscreen touching your extension hair. When out in the sun it is recommended to only use mineral based sunscreens. It’s crucial to avoid “regular” sunscreens. Specifically ones with the ingredients “Avobenzone” and “Oxybenzone”. These ingredients will cause extension hair to turn orange, peach, or pink. This cannot be fixed and your extension hair will need to be replaced.

    • In addition to avoiding using “regular” sunscreen on your body, it’s important to note if it’s being sprayed around you or in the water (transfer from other individuals to the water may get in your extensions if submerged).
